Recognisable before the name is read.
NHC DESIGN is expressed by a measured interruption: one quiet line, set away from centre, carried through a surface and resolved at its edge. Its purpose changes with the object. Its discipline does not.
The datum
A single off-centre line defines orientation. It may be a seam, a machined inlay, a shadow gap or a change in material. It turns an edge with intent; it never becomes decoration.
The junction
Materials meet at a deliberate reveal rather than hiding behind trim. The meeting point is considered as carefully as the broad surface.
The proportion
Long, calm planes balance a small, purposeful detail. Edges are controlled, transitions are exact, and visual mass is held low.
The restraint
Controls are reduced to what the hand needs. Branding follows the form, not the other way around. Nothing glows merely to signal the future.
A system, not a shape
One idea, translated rather than repeated.
The datum is not a stripe applied to everything. In each category, it must answer a real question of use, assembly or transition. These are possible design directions, not specifications for existing products.

These are proposed visual roles, not confirmed production specifications. Finishes and sourcing would be established separately for each real commission or product.

Primary shell
A quiet, light-absorbing field for the main form.
02 / Warm ivory
Space & paper
A calm counterweight that reveals silhouette and texture.
03 / Titanium
Functional detail
Reserved for the datum, bearing surfaces and touchpoints.
04 / Aged bronze
Hidden warmth
A narrow reveal, never an all-over finish.
Soft surfaces
Leather and textile bring warmth where the body meets the object. Grain and stitching remain legible, never disguised as an effect.
Hard surfaces
Metal, stone and timber are used for their particular structural and tactile qualities. Material changes occur at a clear joint.
Hardware
Flush closures, controlled reveals and a small number of deliberate touchpoints. The mechanism should explain the detail, not conceal it.
Identity & presentation
The name is enough.
No emblem is required to make the work identifiable. The full typographic signature leads; NHC may be used only where space genuinely demands a shorter reading. Neither should overpower the form.

Typography
Archivo sets names, labels and technical information with clarity. Instrument Serif is reserved for editorial thought, never a product badge. Scale creates hierarchy; ornament does not.
Packaging
A quiet protective enclosure, uncoated warm paper, a precise opening line and a small printed signature. The unboxing should reveal the object, not perform for an audience.
Photography
Directional natural light, honest colour and enough distance to understand the whole form. A second, closer frame explains the junction. No artificial glow or obscuring atmosphere.

The folio
A low-profile leather form keeps its hardware nearly flush. The datum becomes the closure; the warm reveal marks the exact point where two parts meet.

The controller
The same line becomes a tactile interface. One control interrupts it only where the hand finds it; the casing stays visually still when not in use.

The inhabited line
At room scale, the datum becomes a continuous joint between wall, integrated seating and adjacent surfaces. It holds the composition together without making the room about the detail.

Designed by NHC DESIGN is not the same as selected by National Horse Company.
The signature belongs only to work originated or expressly designed by NHC DESIGN. Third-party products curated or retailed by National Horse Company retain their makers’ own identities and are identified as such. Collaboration credits must state each party’s role.
